Moreover, two teachers are winners of special allowance of State Council, one holds the title of National Level Famous Teacher in higher educational institutions and three hold the title of Guangdong Provincial Famous Teacher. Six teachers were awarded Nanyue Distinguished Teacher of Guangdong Province.
Since 2001, we have chosen a way to develop the school coordinately and sustainably by keeping the balance between quality, the scale and the benefits. Efforts have been made in teaching reform to cultivate students’ creativity and vocational competence. These efforts are rewarded by prizes in teaching achievements of different levels ranging from national, provincial to municipal ones------ one second prize at national level, 2 first prizes at provincial level, 1 special prize and 5 first prizes at municipal level.

In addition to offering programs for vocational training at school, we also take serving the local society as our commitment. There are a national training base for skillful talents in computer application and software technology, a national training base for talents in toy industry, a municipal training base for professionals in mold industry and a municipal training base for teachers in secondary vocational schools. Furthermore, our school of software has been nominated one of the first model software schools in Guangdong Province. Presently, the National Vocational Skill Identification Station has been set up which provides 42 kinds of appraisal and training programs.
Our goal is to nurture quality highly skilled talents (One Professional Skill + Comprehensive Quality)for the economic and social development. To fulfill this goal, the teaching is designed to be quality-education-based, competence-centered, employment-oriented and enterprise-school cooperated. The “dual-certificate” (Diploma + Vocational Qualification Certificate) requirement guarantees students a strong educational and vocational foundation. As a result, student employment statistics have been exceptional in recent years. The employment rate of our 2004 and 2005 graduating classes placed Guangzhou Panyu Polytechnic at the top of the list for both colleges and universities in Guangdong.

For more than ten years, the Polytechnic has received strong financial support from both government and private individuals. Benefactors from Hong Kong, Macao – in particular those individuals of Panyu origin – have given both moral and financial support for the on-going growth of the college. Among them are Mr. Huo Yingdong, former Vice Chairman of China Political Consultative Conference, Mr. He Houhua, Chief Executive of Macao Special Administrative Region, Mr. Chen Ruiqiu, member of CPPC, Mr. He Tian and He Shanheng. Our benefactors have significantly contributed to the development of Guangzhou Panyu Polytechnic and its students. The support from the benefactors and leaders at different levels will always encourage us to build the school to be a national model of higher vocational education with distinguished local features.
Guangzhou Panyu Polytechnic is active in international exchange and cooperation. It has established extensive relations with renowned foreign universities, vocational educational colleges and training institutions. On one hand, the school constantly invites overseas cooperative universities and colleges for an exchange, and provides joint programs to introduce quality vocational education resources; on the other, our school assigns its backbone teachers abroad to learn the advanced concepts and successful experience in vocational education in foreign countries. Currently We have established cooperative relationships with universities and vocational training organizations outside of mainland China. These include institutions in Germany, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Belgium, India, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Today, all the staff and students are striving to build Guangzhou Panyu Polytechnic into a National Demonstrative Vocational College with its own distinct local features.
